Dad and Me

Dad and Me
Originally uploaded by Mary Godwin.

"Ten, Ten, Eighty" is a kind of jingle I gave myself to hold back forgetting the date and day my father left a bag of skin and bones to take up residence in my head as the voice of assurance, support, and common sense that guides me through days of challenge and the maze of life. I know myself in what remains of him, in memories and the sound of his voice across time. I was his favorite; I still am.

Happy Father's Day, Papa.
